The Howard County A

The Howard County A&M Club blew the top off again for the 8th time! The Aggie Auction raised $52,000 Saturday night, July 14, 2007. It was a record attendance, funds raised, enjoyment and excitement. It was a total blast!

Those who were honored with the naming of the Endowed scholarships were: Stan & Sue Partee, Hayes & Dorothy Stripling '46, and Don and Cindy Knight '81. Those who purchased the $5,000 naming rights for the three endowments were: Stan & Sue Partee, Michael R. & Jeanne Niklasch '84 and Don & Cindy Knight '81, for the Stripling Endowment, and Kelly Williams '84 of Houston for the Knight scholarship. Hayes Stripling expressed his appreciation for the honor by stating, "It is one thing to be honored by your family, but to be honored by your peers is the ultimate."

For the first time in history, Howard County A&M Club endowed two scholarships in one year, giving our club a total of nine endowments that will live forever in perpetuity. This year we awarded a total of fifteen scholarships, a scholarship for every student who applied.

It is not just about the money. The Howard County Aggie Club has a rewarding tradition of returning home to give a portion of our blessings. "To whom much is given, much is required." That sums it up! The investments of encouragement and support will also live in perpetuity forever and hopefully be passed on to future generations. We support all of our students, whether they need the financial assistance or not. We encourage them to persevere through disappointments and failures. These scholarships are one way that we can show each student that we believe in them and are sincerely interested in their continued success. Scholarships are small tokens of our great pride for these outstanding young people. We are their 12th Man, their foundation. Hopefully this encouragement will inspire confidence and enthusiasm.

We sincerely appreciate the individuals and businesses who generously supported us through their tireless efforts, donations, and attendance, some traveling many hours and long distances to be a part of this event. The Howard County A&M Club is well on its way to its goal of 12 Endowments! WHOOP!
