Scholarship Process and Eligibility

The Fort Bend A&M Club works year round to raise scholarship funds to award to local students who plan to attend Texas A&M University – College Station. The decision regarding how many scholarships the Club will award in a given year will be determined after the Club’s last major fund-raiser and based on the financial situation of the Club. Although the number of scholarship awards may vary, the scholarship application process and eligibility requirements will remain constant. Each are detailed below.

Application Process:
1. Each January, applications are delivered either to the central administrative office of the participating public school districts or to the appropriate representative of the respective participating public school for dissemination to their eligible applicants. Applications may also be downloaded from the Club’s website.

2. Completed applications returned to the Club by the set deadline are reviewed by a Selection Committee. Finalists are invited to interview with the Selection Committee. Scholarship recipient selection is based on both scores from the application and the interview. Scores do not reflect consideration to high school, race, or gender. The recommendations of the Selection Committee will be referred to the Fort Bend County A&M Club Board of Directors for final approval.

3. All applicants are notified. Recipients are notified individually by the Club via telephone followed by a congratulatory letter. Notification is usally made prior to the Muster Ceremony held April 21st each year, but may be made later.

4. Recipients are there after invited to attend the Muster ceremony and any other appropriate Club event. By accepting the scholarship, the recipients also authorize the Fort Bend County A&M Club to use their photograph and name in the Club’s advertising.

5. Payment of the scholarship is made directly to the Financial Aid Office at Texas A&M University on a semester basis as long as the recipient is enrolled for 12 or more semester hours and is in good standing academically.

6. Recipients of the scholarship are expected to write the Club or contact the Club at least once a semester to inform the Board of Directors how they are benefiting from their scholarship.

7. To maintain eligibility, the recipient must comply with all the above listed scholarship policies of the Fort Bend County A&M Club. Failure to comply may result in forfeiture of scholarship award.
