The Fort Bend County
A&M Club will award scholarships to outstanding students
representing
Fort Bend County at Texas A&M University. To contend for this
scholarship,
an applicant must meet criteria of academic standing and university
enrollment,
demonstrate of leadership, character, citizenship and economic need,
and
possess the fraternal spirit of Aggieland.
Applications should
be typewritten or printed, completed in full and accompanied by
required
documentation. Incomplete applications are not considered.
Application Criteria:
1. Academic Standing: The applicant must be a graduating senior ranked in the upper half (½) of his/her graduating class at the completion of his/her first semester of the senior year or at the time of the applicant’s mid-term graduation. This ranking is to be verified as part of the transcript or by an accompanying certification from an appropriate school official.
2. Graduation: The applicant must graduate at the end of the spring semester immediately following the awarding of the scholarship or have been a mid-term graduate at the conclusion of the semester immediately preceding the awarding of the scholarship.
3. Collegiate Acceptance/Enrollment: The applicant must enroll in Texas A&M University and participate in a curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree. A copy of the acceptance letter for enrollment must be included with the application. The applicant must indicate a choice of major and career planned.
4. Activities:
Leadership
potential and character of the applicant should be demonstrated through
an applicant’s response to the categories of the application detailing
school, extracurricular and community activities and
achievements.
Personal references should provide additional information as well.

The list below includes
additional attachments that must be included with the application for
consideration.
Incomplete applications are not reviewed by the selection committee.
1. Narrative: Each
applicant
must include a typed narrative of no more than two, 8 ½” x 11"
sheets,
double spaced. In this narrative, the applicant may supply any
information,
which he/she feels is pertinent to the application receiving proper
consideration.
The applicant’s name, address and high school should be typed as a
heading
to the narrative in the upper right hand corner of page one.
2. References: Each applicant must submit two letters of personal reference. References may be either typed or handwritten and should include the name, address and daytime phone number of the person making the recommendation, as well as an indication of the person’s relationship to the applicant (teacher, minister, employer, etc.) - no relatives please. References should indicate knowledge of the applicant’s character, determination to pursue a college education and any other factors that will assist in the evaluation. No more than two letters may be submitted per applicant and no letter should exceed one page in length.
3. Transcript: Each application must be accompanied by a transcript showing academic average and grading scale through three and a half years of high school, class size and ranking of the applicant. If the transcript does not list the school’s grading scale, a letter with this information must be included from the registrar or counselor.
4. Letter of Acceptance: As previously stated, the applicant must enroll in Texas A&M University and participate in a curriculum leading to a bachelor’s degree. A copy of the acceptance letter for enrollment must be included with the application.
Application Deadline:
Applications must be
postmarked on or before Monday, February 28, 2005. There will be
no exceptions to the postmark date. The completed application
should
be mailed to Scholarship Chair, Fort Bend County A&M Club, PO Box
