Program Name  Academic Excellence Award
Program Description  This program is designed to provide scholarships for currently enrolled undergraduate, graduate, and professional TAMU students. Eligible applicants must hold and maintain at least a 2.5 cumulative TAMU GPR. Scholarships awarded vary in length from 1-3 years. Since many scholarships awarded through the Academic Excellence Award program consider financial need of the applicant, we strongly urge all applicants to have a completed FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) on file prior to February 1 each year, or a soon as possible thereafter. These forms can be obtained through the Department of Student Financial Aid after January 1 each year or on the Web at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/.
  • Students must have completed at least one semester at Texas A&M University.
  • Students must be enrolled full time at the College Station campus in order to receive a scholarship payment.

Honors Programs & Academic Scholarships

Program Name  Honors Incentive Award
Program Description  This program provides academic scholarships on a competitive basis to currently enrolled undergraduates who are beginning their sophomore, junior, or senior year at TAMU at the beginning of the next Fall semester. Honors Incentive Award scholarships are awarded by the Academic Scholarship Selection Committee on the basis of TAMU scholarly achievement and campus/community involvement. Financial need is not a factor of consideration for the Honors Incentive Award Program. Eligible applicants must hold and maintain at least a 3.5 cumulative TAMU GPR (3.4 for catalog 126 and earlier). Freshman applicants must have at least 3 hours of honors coursework completed by the end of their freshman year; sophomores must have at least 6, juniors at least 9, and seniors at least 12. Students who are currently receiving an Honors Incentive Award must reapply to be considered for an award in subsequent undergraduate years.
  • Students must have completed at least one semester at Texas A&M University.
  • Students must not be currently receiving a 4-year scholarship through Texas A&M University.
  • Students must be enrolled full time at the College Station campus in order to receive a scholarship payment.

Program Name  College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (COALS) Scholarships
Program Description  This Program provides the College's most prestigious undergraduate scholarships. They carry the highest stipends of any of the college-sponsored programs. The scholars who receive these awards are recognized as having demostrated outstanding potential for leadership in academics as well as other areas. Funds are provided by endowments from a variety of sources. Carrying the name of the donor, these scholarships are awarded competitively, on the bases of proven academic excellence, and of an outstanding record in extracurricular activities and/or other areas such as community work, church affairs, employment, etc.

Program Name  Department of Agricultural Economics Scholarships
Program Description  These scholarships are funded through several different sources, including, but not limited to: (1) former student contributions; (2) family and friends memorializing a loved one; (3) former faculty; and (4) from industry sources. The interest earned from endowments is the source of scholarship money awarded each year. The varying amounts of the initial endowments, and the year-to-year variation of interest rates, are the determinants of how much scholarship money is awarded each year.

Program Description  The Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences (WFSC) offers various scholarships for its undergraduate students. Scholarships presented by the department range from $500 to $1000 each. Many, but not all, are awarded to students pursuing a wildlife option. Some take into consideration financial need and involvement in extracurricular activities. Good standing with the university is a requirement for all scholarships.

Program Name  College of Engineering Scholarships
Program Description  Scholarships usually range from $2,000 to $3,000. Applicants must be enrolled (fulltime) in a major in the Dwight Look College of Engineering, be working on the first baccalaureate degree, have a minimum cumulative GPR of 2.75, and submit a current resume as part of the application. Applications are evaluated on scholastic achievement, leadership, financial need, number of family in college currently and first generation in college. Recipients are then matched to donors based on specification such as major or geographic location.

Program Name  College of Science Scholarships
Program Description  Scholarships are presented in various amounts, usually ranging from $200 to $1,000 based on academic merit. In some cases financial need is taken into consideration. Preference is given to students in their junior and senior year. Many, but not all, of the scholarships are intended for those who plan to enter professional school in the health professions and have no other academic scholarships. In addition, there are numerous opportunities for students pursuing mathematics and science certification to teach at a secondary level. Students must be enrolled as full-time undergraduates at Texas A&M University during the academic year in which they are to receive the award.

Program Name  Dependent Children of Faculty/Staff and Support Staff Scholarships
Program Description  This program is designed to recognize the contributions of Texas A&M University (TAMU) employees in the workplace and in the community by rewarding their children on the basis of need and academic achievement. Funding is available from both an endowment and the University's vending and concessions contract with Coca-Cola. All scholarships awarded must be used at TAMU in College Station. The scholarships are $1,500.00 per year and vary in length from 1 - 4 years depending on the student's undergraduate classification. To qualify, a student must meet the following requirements:
  • Must be admitted to TAMU in College Station prior to the coming Fall semester and be a full time undergraduate student
  • Must file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the Federal Student Aid Programs by April 1 to be considered for need based scholarships
  • Must submit 2 letters of recommendation on or before the application deadline
  • Must be the dependent child of a current faculty, staff or support staff employee at TAMU in College Station (does not include TEES, TEEX or any employer other than TAMU main campus)
  • Employee must have been continuously employed at TAMU-College Station for at least 2 years prior to the coming Fall semester in a full time position budgeted at least 50%
